🏛 From the Desk of Congresswoman Nancy Mace As your Representative in Washington, we're working every day to fight for our Lowcountry values. This newsletter is your inside look at what's happening in D.C. and how our team is serving you right here at home. Whether it's securing our borders, standing up for our military, or protecting your freedoms, we've got your back. Here's what we've been working on in Washington: | It was a frustrating week in the House, and we won't sugarcoat it.
There is growing dissatisfaction among members with the ineffectiveness of the House. Aside from the One Big Beautiful Bill, we have relatively little to show for a full year. The dog chased the car, caught it, and now doesn't know what to do with it.
In response to mounting pressure, the Speaker promised to bring a Republican healthcare bill to the floor before the end of the year, a bill to reduce costs for American families. However, no one knows what it includes. The text hasn't been written. We'll see what materializes, but promises without plans don't pay anyone's medical bills.
Meanwhile, our office continues to do the hard work.
This week, the Oversight Committee passed two of our bills with unanimous bipartisan support:
The Skills-Based Federal Contracting Act passed 44-0. This legislation ensures federal contractors are hired based on skills and qualifications—not just degrees. It opens doors for hardworking Americans who've built their expertise through experience, not just credentials.
The SAMOSA Act, which we co-lead, passed 43-0. This bill strengthens how federal agencies manage and oversee software assets, improving accountability and protecting taxpayer dollars. Both bills now await floor consideration.
We also introduced two new pieces of legislation:
The Tax Fairness for Abuse Survivors Act protects domestic violence survivors from being held liable for the tax returns of their abusers. It codifies and strengthens IRS procedures to make relief easier to obtain and shields survivors from financial retaliation.
The Food Assistance Integrity and Responsibility (FAIR) Act requires EBT cards to include the cardholder's name and photograph, with identity verification at the point of sale. This protects the integrity of SNAP benefits and ensures assistance goes to those who need it.
That brings us to over 60 pieces of legislation introduced by us this year, with more to come.
The House may be struggling to find its footing, but we came here to legislate. And that's exactly what we're doing. | We secured a series of major victories in the FY26 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), delivering key policy wins and securing critical investments for the Lowcountry’s military installations.  We helped deliver over $387.93 million in authorizations, or extensions of authorizations, for critical infrastructure projects in the Lowcountry at Joint Base Charleston, MCAS Beaufort, and MCRD Parris Island.  MAJOR POLICY VICTORIES  Protecting Women and Service Members: - Sec. 559A – Protects women's sports at Service Academies. **CONSTITUENT SERVICES**
Our team is currently managing 485 active cases, helping constituents navigate the IRS, VA, USCIS, and other federal agencies.
To date, we have returned over $37 million to South Carolinians who were owed money by the federal government.
Last week, we resolved a case for a constituent whose son had been waiting since October for Social Security Disability payments after correspondence was sent to an incorrect address. After our intervention, he will receive $15,836 in back pay, with monthly payments resuming in January. When our caseworker delivered the news, the constituent was moved to tears. This is the work that matters.
**IN THE DISTRICT**
