NJN Speaks Out

Opposing the Netanyahu Pardon

NJN Co-Chair Nomi Colton-Max delivered a letter to Israeli President Herzog, urging him to reject Prime Minister Netanyahu’s pardon request. This was a global effort supported by 25 organizations, including our partners at UnXeptable.

"At a time when Israel's democracy is under intense strain and the eyes of the Jewish people and the world are upon us, a presidential pardon for a sitting Prime Minister, before his trial is complete, would send a devastating message," the letter says.

The letter was delivered at the Biennial National Assembly of the American Zionist Movement, where NJN – together with a number of partner organizations – made sure that the progressive voice was heard.

NJN Action Alert

Urge Congress to Oppose West Bank Annexation

In recent months, senior Israeli officials have been increasingly explicit about their determination to reshape the West Bank through unilateral actions. Settlement approvals and infrastructure projects continue to expand Israeli control over Palestinian land. And the Knesset is advancing legislation to formalize this policy. All of this is unfolding alongside a level of settler violence that is unlike anything we’ve seen before.

Senator Peter Welch and Representative Ro Khanna are circulating a letter urging Secretary of State Rubio to press back against Israeli efforts to apply sovereignty or annex parts of the West Bank by opposing settlement construction in E-1, by opposing the pro-annexation Knesset bills, and by reinstating the Biden-era sanctions against violent settlers.

Make your voice heard. Tell your Senators and Representatives to support this effort.

Peace Now Shows that New Police Station in East Jerusalem Serves Settlers' Plans

Performing its role as a watchdog, Peace Now reported this week on funding for a new police station in the Jabel Mukaber neighborhood of East Jerusalem. Its construction will serve the settlers in two ways: It will seize land that could have been used for the development of the Palestinian neighborhood. And, it clears the site of the current station to allow new settlement construction that is in line with a plan approved by the authorities two years ago.
