Email from Children's Law Center Unhealthy housing and budget cuts could put DC children at risk   Give Today! Every day, I meet families who are desperate to keep their children safe and healthy. Just last week, I sat with a mother whose landlord ignored dangerous repairs that were making her young sons sick. Reviewing repairs after a water leak in the family's home. Her story isn’t unique — I’ve met dozens of others like her in my first few years at Children’s Law Center. This year has been especially hard as families juggle one uncertainty after another. No matter the challenge, my colleagues and I look for solutions – sometimes with an immediate resolution and other times working to fix the systems to prevent problems from occurring at all. But we can’t do it without donors like you — donate now to help us break down barriers and create lasting change. The challenges ahead are even greater. In 2026, DC plans deep cuts to TANF, threatening to push more than 13,000 families into deep poverty. Behavioral health programs that children rely on are also at risk of being cut. And less funding for housing vouchers will mean more families will endure unhealthy housing conditions just to keep a roof over their heads. We’re working now to get ahead of these crises — but we need your help. Your gift today means a child sleeps in a healthier home tomorrow. It means a family will have money to meet basic needs and put food on the table. It means hope when everything else feels uncertain. We know these are challenging times for many. Gifts of any size are appreciated. If you’ve already given, thank you. If you can give, please do. DONATE NOW Thank you for standing with us — and with the children who need you most.
