Mike Johnson single-handedly worked behind closed doors—against the President’s promise—to rip IVF coverage away from our heroes and their families.

Tammy Duckworth

John, in a moment, I’m going to ask you to add your name to my letter urging Donald Trump to finally deliver on his promise of covering IVF for American families–instead of staying silent as Mike Johnson breaks it for him.

ADD YOUR NAME

But first, let me explain why your support is so important. Especially right now.

The 2026 defense budget is headed to the President’s desk, but Republican Speaker Mike Johnson removed a provision to provide in vitro fertilization coverage for active duty Servicemembers that bipartisan majorities in both the House and the Senate had already voted to include.

He single-handedly worked behind closed doors—against the President’s promise—to rip this provision away from our heroes and their families.

IVF coverage for Servicemembers passed through both chambers of Congress with bipartisan support two years in a row.

I’ve been vocal about how this issue is personal to my family. Without IVF, my husband and I wouldn't have our two beautiful daughters.

But this is also personal to me because I saw so many of my comrades recovering at Walter Reed who lost their fertility as a result of their military service. Having worked on Veteran’s issues for a long time, I know that Veterans suffer from much higher rates of infertility than the average population.

Given how much we already ask them to sacrifice, how dare Mike Johnson also demand that they sacrifice their dreams of having a family too.

Trump touted himself as the “Father of IVF” both on the campaign trail and in office.

But Mike Johnson wants him to become the deadbeat dad of IVF instead.

The President of the United States promised on the campaign trail to make IVF free to all Americans. I can’t think of a better group of Americans to make it available than to the men and women who wear the uniform of this great nation.

I’m not going to let Johnson get away with stripping this critical health care provision away from our troops in secret. So I wrote to Donald Trump to remind him of his promise to the American people, and I’m asking you to join me.

Please add your name to my letter demanding Donald Trump actually do something, anything, to reinstate IVF coverage for military families before signing this year’s defense budget. We need a huge showing of names to get his attention, so every signature counts.

Thank you in advance for using your voice to advocate for Servicemembers and IVF coverage today. I will never stop working for these causes that are so personal to me, and it’s great to know you’re with me.
