![]() Dear friend, This Sunday marks 13 years since we lost 20 six-and seven-year-olds and six staff members at Sandy Hook Elementary. The horror of that day still breaks my heart. I know our prayers remain with their families, classmates, and the entire Newtown community. We will never forget this tragedy. We have a responsibility to end this uniquely American tragedy. When I was elected to Congress, the first bill I introduced was the Undetectable Firearms Modernization Act — which secured meaningful limits on undetectable firearms, also known as "ghost guns." Additionally, I introduced the Background Check Point of Contact Act of 2021 to allow more time for proper vetting — and championed the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, delivering the first meaningful gun violence prevention legislation in nearly 30 years. Most recently, I introduced the Protect Children Through Safe Gun Ownership Act, which would prevent child-involved gun violence. I won’t give up on this critical fight, and it’s past time that Congress took common-sense measures to prevent gun violence.
Very respectfully, Madeleine |
