You know my story: When I was 21 years old, a hate crime left me personally shattered. Three of my best friends, Deah, Yusor, and Razan, were brutally murdered in their home for being Muslim, a faith that I share.

They had dedicated their lives to serving communities at home and beyond. I was broken, but their parents, with incredible strength and love, asked us not to let their legacy die—to continue to remember the three of them and cherish them in our work.

I have let that promise guide every single chapter of my life since then, and it’s why I’m jumping into this race now.
