Dear John,
Across Antarctica, the Gulf of Mexico, the North Atlantic, Greece, and the Upper Gulf of California, 2025 was a year of expanded reach and stronger protection. Here’s what you helped make possible:
In Antarctica, our crews documented the industrial krill fleet pressing deeper into feeding grounds, strengthening the case for new marine protected areas.
At Scorpion Reef, we launched a new permanent campaign, removing illegal gear, supporting Mexican authorities, and protecting one of the Gulf’s most important coral systems.
In the Faroe Islands, we exposed the slaughter of pilot whales and white-sided dolphins, adding pressure for change across Europe.
In Greece, our crews removed thousands of illegal octopus traps threatening fragile inshore ecosystems, while across Mexico we expanded sea lion rescues at Consag Rock.
And in the Vaquita Refuge, we committed more resources than ever before — delivering a sustained presence and deeper partnerships that produced real results.
This year’s survey brought rare good news: the vaquita is still here, and reproducing.
We’ve put the full 2025 recap — and the new Year in Review video — together for you here:
