** Blue state blues are a political choice.

Just The News ([link removed]) (12/10/25) reports: "President Donald Trump kicked off an affordability tour in Pennsylvania on Tuesday, and among the concerns he's discussing at the events is the cost of energy. It's a big concern for Americans. A recent poll conducted by Ipsos, a marketing research and consulting firm, found that 73% of U.S. residents were concerned about increases in their electricity and gas bills this year. A new analysis by Always On Energy Research and the Institute for Energy Research shows that residents of blue states see higher electricity bills than those of red states, and the main reason is the blue states have stricter renewable energy policies. Using data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the analysis found that 86% of states with electricity prices above the national average in the
continental U.S. voted for a Democratic nominee for president in the 2020 and 2024 elections, while 80% of those who voted for a Republican nominee in those years had the lowest electricity prices."

** "After years of retiring reliable generators in favor of resources that rely on the weather, [blue states] are now scrambling to ensure system reliability, especially with historic load growth projected in the coming years. Unfortunately, consumers are now footing the bill for years of misplaced priorities."

(12/10/25) reports: "A proposed Costco mega gas station in Novato has ignited fierce opposition from local residents who say the project goes against the Marin County town’s environmental commitments... Despite Novato’s 2022 ban on new gas stations and its 2020 climate emergency declaration, the project survived because it went into the city review process before the ban took effect. On Monday, the Planning Commission accepted the draft Environmental Impact Report and directed the staff to prepare a final version...Nan Farley, the treasurer for 350Marin, a climate activism group, questioned the economic logic, noting that 40% of new vehicles registered in Marin are electric, versus 25% statewide. 'How do you calculate what’s an appropriate amount to invest in something that will become useless later?' she said."

(12/10/25) reports: "The European Commission has sparked a dispute between rival environmental camps by announcing it will sacrifice nature protection laws to speed up the rollout of clean electricity networks. Faster permitting is good news for clean energy advocates, who argue a much bigger grid is essential to build more renewables and slash planet-warming emissions. Lengthy permitting procedures, they say, often add five years or more to development. But a rival green camp warns slashing environmental permitting rules will endanger Europe’s nature and wildlife, which is already critically under threat...The disagreement highlights a fundamental contradiction in the environmental movement. Those who see climate change as the biggest threat to the planet argue we must be building clean alternatives to fossil fuels at breakneck speed. That inevitably means chopping down trees, tearing up the earth and upsetting habitats to build the necessary power lines, renewables and critical mineral
mines that underpin the transition."

Hard to argue otherwise.

(12/10/25) reports: "Interior Secretary Doug Burgum claims California’s dependence on foreign oil is a 'national security risk,' arguing that restrictive blue state energy policies are undermining U.S. energy dominance. In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, Burgum contrasted energy policies in places like Pennsylvania and Alaska, where he and Energy Secretary Chris Wright recently toured the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge as it was primed for expanded resource development with more restrictive states like California shutting down refineries. Soon after taking office, President Donald Trump announced a pivot toward utilizing America’s natural resources to power the U.S. economy and its energy grid rather than making public lands 'reserves' where nothing can touch them...Burgum warned that the Golden State once had 40 oil refineries but is now down to nine, with two more on their way out to Texas and beyond...DOE official Ben Dietderich shared new department data showing average
electricity costs of $0.18 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) in blue states versus $0.11 in red states, compared with a national average of $0.13."
