Jami is amazing — not just because she’s my wife. She has more energy than ten people, and when she sets her mind to something, she does it.
Jami’s more than frustrated with politics and feels like leaders aren’t addressing our actual problems, especially here in New York. So she’s decided to do something about it — and I respect that so much. She has all of these other professional opportunities, but she’s set them aside to try to fix our broken government. |
We’re a mixed race, mixed ethnicity, and mixed religious family — I’m Jewish, and Jami is Catholic. This mix of cultures gives Jami a truly unique perspective that is very representative of our city.
Jami’s parents met in Mexico while her father, an artist, was studying with muralist Diego Rivera. When they returned to the U.S., they wanted to marry, but a marriage between a black man and a white woman was illegal in many states. New York City, however, welcomed them. That’s just one of many reasons why Jami is so committed to the city.
I met Jami at law school in the Bay Area. After graduation, she received a White House Fellowship and worked for Vice President Al Gore and First Lady Hillary Clinton’s health care reform. When we returned to California, she taught at Stanford University.
While watching the O.J. Simpson trial, Jami noticed that only white men were commenting as our nation was fixated on issues of race and gender. Invited to speak on radio and TV about this limited perspective, she quickly saw that as a journalist, she had a real opportunity to represent all voices in this country, not as an activist, but as a truth-teller.
That’s what Jami is all about. She’s running for office to represent all New Yorkers and take our stories to Congress. For Jami, compromise is not a four-letter word. She knows we have to work together to find a way forward.
I know Jami will fight for us in Washington with the same spirit that she puts into everything — our family, her job, and our community. Please donate today to help Jami get her campaign off the ground. |
Jami is a New Yorker, through and through. She’s committed to our city and country and will create a path forward so that voters no longer feel squeezed, scared, and silenced.
Please be in touch with me and our campaign if you’d like to get involved.
Thank you for your support, Kurt |
