Ahead of the Senate's vote tomorrow on a clean extension of the ACA tax credits, I want to make sure we're all on the same page around where things currently stand.

To start, I spent months warning Republicans about the MAGA health care hike. They had all year to stop health care premiums from skyrocketing – but chose to do absolutely nothing.

Now, with open enrollment underway, families are set to see their premiums double or even triple or quadruple next year – and Republicans are STILL refusing to work with Democrats to fix it.  

And of course, Trump is only making matters worse: 

Unless Trump and the GOP change their tune – and soon – we can expect:

* More than 22 million folks' premiums will double, triple, or even quadruple (with the worst price hikes in states and rural areas Trump won).
* About 4 million will opt to go uninsured.
* And for people NOT on Obamacare, premiums are expected to spike by 20% on average to absorb the shock of lost enrollees.


But it doesn't end there, friend – because thanks to the massive cuts to Medicaid and Medicare in the GOP's Big Ugly Bill, more than 15 million working-class Americans, kids included, will lose health care coverage, too. That means rural hospitals and clinics will close. Seniors will get kicked out of nursing homes. Disabled folks will lose long-term care. All so that billionaires can claim an extra $1 TRILLION in tax cuts gifted to them by Republicans.

My colleagues across the aisle won't move an inch without the president's approval. And with Democrats in the minority, we don't control the floor, dictate what bills get voted on, or set the agenda for committees. Wielding power on the people's behalf, saving affordable health care, and bringing Trump and his gang of crooks to account requires that we first win elections.

But does that mean we can throw our hands up in the air and say, “Oh well” until next November? No way.

So I will keep sharing updates like these to make sure people in Washington state, like you, know the truth.

I will keep sounding the alarm about Trump and Republicans' betrayals of the working class to fund tax breaks for billionaires.

And next year, as more and more people have to choose between lifesaving health care, keeping a roof over their heads, and affording food on the table, I will make sure everyone knows that Trump and his party's actions (or lack thereof) are the reason why. In the wealthiest nation on Earth, there is absolutely no excuse.
