John,

I want to talk with you about something that’s been weighing on me.

You may have seen the news about Admiral Rachel Levine. Trump officials went back and erased her name from her own official portrait and replaced it with the name she no longer uses. Think about the time and energy it takes to do something like that—something meant only to hurt and divide. And while families are struggling with rising costs, and health care keeps sliding further out of reach for too many, this is what Trump is choosing to focus on: attacking people instead of solving the real problems facing Americans.

But here’s the thing… I’m fighting back. I’m working every day to push for policies that actually help people: lowering costs, expanding mental health care, and protecting every person’s dignity and right to access the health care they need and deserve.

If you’re with me, I’m asking you to click here and chip in whatever you can today. Your support gives us the power to push back on these attacks and keep fighting for a country where EVERYONE is treated with basic respect. [[link removed]]

I spoke about this the other day because I felt it in my bones. When Admiral Levine came to Vermont, she showed up everywhere she went with kindness, professionalism, and a focus on serving the American people. And that’s what leadership looks like.

What we’re seeing now isn’t strength, It’s a deep sense of insecurity. It’s smallness. It’s a government lashing out instead of doing the real work, like lowering costs, strengthening mental health care, fixing our broken housing market, and protecting our freedoms.

And here's the truth: moments like this hit close to home for me. I’m the first woman and first openly gay person to represent Vermont in Congress . I know what it’s like to have people question your place in the world. I also know what it means to keep standing tall anyway.

I ran for Congress as a fighter and an empath. Vermonters know me. You know me . I don’t back down from bullies, and I don’t lose sight of people’s dignity—ever.

This fight is about whether we keep moving toward a country where everyone gets to live with safety, respect, and opportunity… or whether we let cruelty and chaos continue to take the wheel.

If you’re with me in this fight, I’m asking you to help power this work today. Can you click here and chip in $5, $25, or whatever feels right to protect our democracy and keep compassion at the center of our politics? [[link removed]]

Thanks for reading. Thanks for caring. And thank you for believing in a movement that lifts people up, instead of putting them down.
