Dear Friend,
A few weeks ago, I stood at Riverbend Park with 20 people who had given up their Saturday to learn how to become bird guides.
Twenty people. Ready to lead walks, answer questions, and share their love of birds with complete strangers. Some were seasoned birders, some were newer to it—but all of them wanted to help others experience the magic of getting outside and seeing something wild.
It was one of those moments that reminded me why I love this work.
At Northern Virginia Bird Alliance, we're in the business of connection. We want to get more people outside, binoculars in hand, discovering the incredible birds that call this region home. But here's the thing—we also want to make sure there are birds for you to see.
That's why we pair programs like bird guide training with habitat restoration through Stretch Our Parks. It's why we advocate for the policies and protections that give birds a fighting chance. Because what's the point of teaching people to look if there's nothing left to find?
If you're able to make a year-end gift, it helps us do both: build a community of people who care, and protect the birds that make it all worthwhile.
* $35 covers supplies for a guided bird walk
* $75 helps restore native habitat at one of our Stretch Our Parks sites
* $150 trains a new bird guide to lead community programs
* $300 supports a full season of conservation education
Whatever you're able to give, thank you. It matters more than you know.
Warmly,
Amanda
