Abroad, he has us on the brink of war with Venezuela, where he is threatening military action and indiscriminately murdering fishermen in international waters.
But the violence isn't just overseas.
Here at home, my hometown of Chicago and cities across this nation are facing down the brutality ICE is unleashing in our communities. They are snatching people off the street with no due process, firing tear gas and rubber bullets into crowds, and brutalising and persecuting peaceful protesters.
This is a regime of violence. He indiscriminately murders abroad and brutalizes our neighbors at home, all while clutching a fake trophy and demanding we call him a peacemaker. Trump is dangerous, insecure, and completely out of control.
We desperately need a Congress that will reign him in. When I get there, I will move immediately to dismantle his corruption, oppose his warmongering, and hold his officials accountable for their crimes against humanity. But I cannot do it without the resources to fight back.
