The federal trial for poet and activist Isabel “Isa” Lopez has been reset for 9 a.m. on Feb. 2, 2026, after several delays and cancellations. Lopez has community support as she faces four felonies from protesting federal agents carrying out an operation in Minneapolis in June.

A sprawling court case from a protest at an immigration detention center could determine how the US government deals with dissent. Much of the strategy was spelled out in National Security Presidential Memorandum (NSPM-7) ([link removed]) , a memorandum on countering domestic terrorism and organized political violence that was released on Sept. 25.

Over the past several months, an "aviation geek" in Minnesota who goes by ottergoose on reddit has been tracking, photographing, and posting his documentation of deportation flights online. He spoke during a rally on Dec. 3.

About 100 Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents have descended on Minneapolis for Operation Metro Surge, a new phase of the Trump Administration’s crackdown on immigrants, this time targeting the city’s Somali population.

On Nov. 22, an Israeli ‘kamikaze’ drone targeted a car on a busy Gaza City street, killing five Palestinians and injuring many more. As of Nov. 25, Israel had committed at least 497 ceasefire violations, killing at least 342 Palestinians since the U.S.-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Hamas went into effect on Oct. 10, according to the Gaza Government Media Office.

** Community Continues Support for Poet After Charges, Federal Trial Set for February

** Activists in Germany Blockading Far-Right Youth Convention Violently Beat by Police
------------------------------------------------------------
Over 50,000 people attempted to block the founding convention for the new youth organization of the far-right AfD party on Nov. 29 in Gießen, Germany. Wide-ranging actions, including 19 blockades around the small city, prevented a majority of participants from attending. The AfD had dismantled its previous youth party after the German Intelligence Service declared it a right-wing extremist group. Police violently beat blockaders.

** Documenting Deportation Flights at MSP Airport
------------------------------------------------------------
“I was here yesterday recording video and they were laying shackles out on the icy tarmac. It was 15 degrees. Terrible,” said Nick Benson, a “very enthusiastic aviation geek” on December 3. He was speaking to a crowd near Signature Aviation’s hangar at a rally calling for an end to deportation flights from the MSP Airport.

** Rally Demands End to Deportation Flights at MSP Airport
------------------------------------------------------------
“Over the past two weeks, we have seen an increase in hateful rhetoric and aggressive actions targeting immigrants, especially and specifically Somalis,” said Imam Yusuf Abdullah during a rally on Dec. 3 at the MSP Airport, demanding an end to deportation flights. The rally was organized by union workers and faith leaders.
