Dear colleagues and friends of The Hunt Institute,

I’m pleased to share that we have selected 29 senior state leaders to join the next cohort of our Hunt-Kean Leadership Fellows program ([link removed]) .

Each year, this Fellowship brings together policymakers who are ready to look past familiar divides and focus on what matters most: better outcomes for students and families.

This work began with Governors Jim Hunt and Tom Kean, who believed that informed, collaborative leadership can change the trajectory of public education. More than a decade later, that idea continues to resonate.

Our alumni now include current governors, attorneys general, state legislators, and education leaders from every corner of the country.

Cohort 12 reflects that same commitment. These leaders represent both parties, all regions of the country, and nearly every level of state government. What they share is a willingness to engage deeply with research, policy, and one another.

Over the next several months, they will participate in policy discussions, site visits, webinars, and strategy sessions that challenge them to think differently about systems and solutions.

At a time when the education landscape can feel fractured, I am encouraged by the number of leaders who still believe partnership is possible.

Their willingness to step into a bipartisan space signals what we’ve always held true: durable, student-centered policy requires both curiosity and collaboration.

I also want to acknowledge the many resource experts, partners, and alumni who make this program possible. Your insights and generosity continue to shape how leaders approach the hard work of governing.

Thank you, as always, for your support of this work. I look forward to all that this new cohort will learn and contribute in the year ahead.

Warm regards,

Javaid Siddiqi, Ph.D.
