During an Instagram Q&A, someone asked me:

from $600/month to $1200 for a single person?
Because Republicans — who have control of the House, the Senate, and the
White House — enacted 2 major things this year:
1. They ended Affordable Care Act insurance subsidies which cause
insurance rates to more than double, and
2. They made a trillion dollars in cuts to Medicaid and healthcare,
skyrocketing healthcare costs.
A lot of people think this kind of thing won't affect them if they aren't
on Medicaid, Medicare, or the Affordable Care Act.
They are sadly mistaken.
Massive cuts to our healthcare system also forces private insurance to
skyrocket because the whole system will have to make up the difference.
This is why the government was shut down, by the way — trying to prevent
these ACA insurance hikes from going into place.
We must remember: Republicans were given an assignment to find billions in
tax cuts for their donors. Their number one priority is to rob our public
systems in order to make the country a slush fund for their billionaire
friends.
We have to stop enabling their abuse of power.

corruption is going to have to push harder than ever these next few years.
