Put Nevada Workers First! |
|
Hello Friend, Nevadans are hurting due to massive unemployment, growing COVID19 cases, and uncertainty regarding returning to work. Many businesses are not providing proper protective equipment or safe working conditions given the pandemic. We know that some resources are limited but businesses can and should protect their workers no matter what. In these difficult times, we have to put Nevada workers first! Workers need our help. Numerous Nevada businesses are seeking liability immunity to protect themselves against any lawsuits from employees who get COVID19. If businesses follow proper safety guidelines they are already protected. They do not need an extra measure to cover their bad behavior. The Nevada Workers Coalition has drafted a letter to Governor Sisolak, Senate Leader Nicole Cannizzaro, and Assembly Speaker Jason Frierson urging them to not support liability immunity for Nevada businesses. Please tell these leaders to tell them you do not support liability immunity for Nevada businesses! There is no value that can be placed on human life. If reasonable accommodations can be met through the guidelines provided by the government and CDC, there is no excuse for shortcuts from businesses. Employees are not objects and they deserve to be treated like the human beings they clearly are. Thank you, Maria-Teresa Liebermann-Parraga Deputy Director |
