In order to prevent marketplace premiums from skyrocketing for more than
20 million people in 2026, we are fighting to extend the Affordable Care
Act (ACA) subsidies that are currently set to expire at the end of the
year.
Now, the Senate needs to act before it’s too late. As of today, there are
only 9 days left in the legislative session, and there is a bill in the
Senate that will extend the ACA subsidies for the next 3 years.
Nurses demand that Congress put our patients first and vote in support of
S.3385 to extend the ACA subsidies and prevent needless suffering.
Call your senator at 202-946-1471 and demand they vote yes on Senate Bill
3385 NOW!
Here's a short script you can follow:
“Hi, my name is _______. I am a constituent and I’m a nurse/other health care
worker/patient. I’m calling today to urge my senator to vote YES on S.3385 to
extend the ACA tax credits for three years. Come January 1st, more than 20
million Americans will face the choice of significantly higher health care costs
or to go uninsured. In fact 1 in 4 people who get their coverage on the ACA
marketplace reported they are likely to go without coverage if the subsidies are
not extended. I urge my senator to vote YES on S. 3385 to extend the ACA
subsidies and prevent needless suffering. Thank you.”
We know that Medicare for All is the long term solution to our health care
crisis, which will replace our broken, for-profit health care system with
a single-payer health care system that would end health disparities,
effectively control costs, and assure that everyone has equal ability to
receive an excellent standard of care as a human right. But we also know
that fighting to extend these ACA subsidies in the short term is critical
for the tens of millions of people that rely on them.
The Senate
is scheduled to vote tomorrow on this bill. Let's flood our
representatives’ phone lines and demand they do what it takes to save the
health care of tens of millions of people.
In solidarity,
National Nurses United
