** Join us for our Holiday Party this Saturday, Dec 13 at 3 PM at CANA
------------------------------------------------------------

The Indivisible SF Holiday Party is this Saturday, December 13th, from 3 to 6pm at CANA (683 Florida Street). You won’t want to miss out on our holiday-themed action tables where you’ll have the chance to:
* Make a No Kings ornament/decoration
* Make buttons with activist messaging
* Sign holiday cards for state and local representatives
* Write thank-you postcards to judges and lawyers who have protected our democracy
* Make zines and ICE defense packs
* Color frog pictures and stickers (note: kid-friendly!)
* Make holiday-themed videos that support Muni funding

…or, you can just eat, drink, and be merry . There will be snacks and drinks, including beer and wine.

We’ll be collecting toys for CANA’s Xmas toy drive. If you’re able, please bring a new, unopened, not-wrapped toy that CANA will share with the local community.

Friends, family members, and partners are all welcome.

Please RSVP ([link removed]) so we can plan quantities of food and action-table supplies.

** Tomorrow: Human Rights Day in SF Dec 10, 12-1 PM at the City Hall East Steps
------------------------------------------------------------

Tomorrow, Tuesday Dec 10 at noon at City Hall, the California Alliance for Retired Americans (CARA) will be holding a reading of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and discuss ways of fighting back. Join them in solidarity.

** Saturday protests: How Trump the Grinch Stole Democracy
------------------------------------------------------------

Our weekly Saturday protest, Trump Regime Takedown, will be ongoing throughout the holiday season. If you are angry about the Trump Administration taking a wrecking ball to our democracy and destroying our economy, we welcome you to join us. We are celebrating resistance, togetherness, and democracy every Saturday. This is a great way to meet up with other activists in the city and blow off some steam.

RSVP on Mobilize ([link removed]) or just show up at O’Farrell and Van Ness (999 Van Ness) at 12 PM every Saturday!

** Win: States can still regulate AI companies, thanks to you!
------------------------------------------------------------

Republicans drop Trump-ordered block on state AI laws from defense bill ([link removed]) . Those riders would have allowed Big Tech's AI to run out of control for the next 10 years, with only the corrupt, gridlocked, Republican-controlled government to regulate it. ‘“Widespread and powerful movement” keeps Trump from blocking state AI laws.'

That's us! Your calls helped preserve the state's right to regulate artificial intelligence ([link removed]) .

The fight is just beginning. As “AI” companies keep pushing for more control and legislators in their pocket continue to enable them, we’ll keep pushing back.

** Demand a Congressional Investigation into Hegseth's Extrajudicial Killings
------------------------------------------------------------

Over the last few months, the Trump regime has orchestrated the bombings of small boats in the Caribbean and Pacific that it claims are trafficking drugs bound for the U.S.. They’ve provided no legal justification for these bombings, which have now killed over 80 people in total.

In at least one of these strikes, Hegseth ordered troops to leave no survivors. Compliance with this order required a special operations commander to launch a second strike on two civilians who survived the initial attack. This command — known as a “no-quarter order” — likely constitutes a war crime.

However, the civilians on those boats were not engaged in any armed conflict with the United States. They posed no imminent threat. As former military lawyer Todd Huntley put it, because there is no legitimate war between the U.S. and these alleged traffickers, killing them literally amounts to murder.

If Congress does not put a check on this regime’s lawless violence, there’s no telling where this will end. Hegseth could label anyone a legitimate target and order the military to carry out strikes without legal justification or even evidence of wrongdoing.

Call your Member of Congress and tell them: investigate Hegseth’s extrajudicial killings! ([link removed])

** The Congressional Healthcare-Subsidy Charade
------------------------------------------------------------

The first major piece of Project 2025 legislation rammed through by the MAGA Regime was the "Big Beautiful Bill" that cut taxes for the wealthiest one percent. It 'paid' for those tax cuts by slashing food and healthcare funds relied upon by the bottom 50 percent. According to the Kaiser Family Foundation ([link removed]) , the costs paid by working families to keep their health insurance will more than double on January 1st and at least four million are expected to lose healthcare coverage.

Democrats have tried and failed to restore the Enhanced Obamacare subsidies that working families without employer-provided health insurance rely on -- most recently with the filibuster and government shutdown that was aborted by Senator Schumer's posse of 'moderate' Democrats. Meanwhile, the plight of the impoverished and working poor who rely on Medicaid and seniors whose Medicare premiums are soaring seems to have dropped off the political radar.

But working families are core voters for both parties, so now there's a last minute flurry of concern about health care costs. The MAGA Regime priority, of course, is protecting their billionaire and corporate tax cuts so they want the subsidies and Obamacare itself to die. 'Moderate' Republicans are suddenly terrified of what might happen to them in the coming mid-term elections so they want to be perceived to be doing something (anything), while Democrats are orating and declaiming but avoiding radical proposals that might offend the donor class. To some observers this looks like a Kabuki play with actors posturing for 2026 voters.

And the charade continues, to learn more about the health ‘plan’ that’s really a scam the MAGA Republicans are proposing and the meager proposal the Democrats are uniting around, read more on our blog. ([link removed])

** We STILL Ain’t Buying It: A second wave of the boycott
------------------------------------------------------------

A couple of weeks ago we promoted members taking part in a national Black Friday through Cyber Monday boycott targeting three specific retailers: Amazon, Home Depot and Target. It has just been announced that a second wave of the We Ain’t Buying It boycott ([link removed]) is scheduled for December 13th through December 23rd.

It should be noted that if you took part in the Transanta program ([link removed]) , as discussed in last week’s article, outside of the planned boycott dates, then you’re good to go!. After all, trans youth should not be punished just because a company has decided to cooperate with the Trump regime. Try to make any planned purchases from the targeted companies before December 13th. If you have items you’ve been meaning to return, doing so during the boycott will further demonstrate the power we have to reduce corporate profits.

For more details, and to participate in this new wave of boycotts, read on our blog ([link removed]) . Several local small business alternatives are cited and we encourage you to make your holiday purchases with these vendors.

** Plastic bags are going away by the end of this year. Are you ready?
------------------------------------------------------------

We previously informed you that plastic grocery bags would be going away in California at the end of this year, so you should start stockpiling reusable bags and get in the habit of using them.

That day is imminent. Next year, you won’t be able to get new plastic bags anymore—only paper. Reuse the plastic bags you already have, and consider buying cloth bags to use instead.

Learn more from our blog post ([link removed]) .

And, by the way, if you want to represent Indivisible SF, we have
ISF tote bags ([link removed]) for sale on our Bonfire site! All proceeds go to funding our expenses.
