Dear John,
Perhaps you’ve heard that we’ve had a change in leadership at the Oklahoma Democratic Party. We are grateful for the work Rep. John Waldron has done, and we respect the difficult decision he made in stepping down as Chair.
Our party bylaws direct that the Vice Chair assume the Chairmanship if that office is vacated. And so, it is with great expectation that I write to you as the new Chair of the OKDEMS.
As I step into this new role, I’d like to re-introduce myself. I’m a fifth generation Oklahoman, wife and mom, small business owner, and advocate. My professional background includes communications, public relations, fundraising, entrepreneurship, and political campaigning. I’ve been a second chance employer and am committed to justice reform. I co-founded the public education advocacy group, OK Parent Legislative Advocacy Coalition, that led the lawsuit to prevent our state from opening a religious charter school . I was the operations and communications director for Joy Hofmeister’s campaign for governor. And, in 2024, I ran for State Senate and came up just 2,000 votes short of flipping the seat (in the district where Ryan Walters lives.) Erin at KFOR Studios to

As Vice Chair, I’ve proudly worked side-by-side with Rep. Waldron in raising funds, traveling to County Party events, supporting candidates, and giving media interviews. I can promise you that all of this activity will continue.
In fact, there is no reason for uncertainty about our future. Our elected officer team of Treasurer Alberto Alonso-Sandoval and Secretary Kati Cain actively bring their expertise and professionalism to our day-to-day operations.

Today, we have more active County Parties than we have had in years. More Democrats in more communities have more opportunities than ever to connect with one another. And, with 98 candidates currently slated for the 2026 ballot, 200,000 more Democrats than in 2024 will have an opportunity to vote in a local election next November. Erin & Jayme Shelton
This is a revitalized Oklahoma Democratic Party and we aren’t taking our foot off the gas! We are still recruiting candidates, knocking doors, registering voters, and standing up inactive County Parties. Cleveland County Dems Chair
As I promised when I ran for Vice Chair, I’m working everyday to give our party the financial wherewithal to turn the tide, to rebuild our brand, and to regain the trust of voters statewide. I’m as committed as ever to that work.
I know that you’re committed, too. You wouldn’t be on this email list if you weren’t! Your involvement matters as much as it ever has. Whether you’re a never-miss-an-election voter, a volunteer, a party leader, or a donor, your participation is critical to our success.
I’m so proud to be on this team!
