Dear John,

As I think back on 2025, I am filled with much gratitude for the incredible impact that the National Immigrant Justice Center (NIJC), our partners, clients, and supporters like you have had on the lives of our community members this year.

On this Human Rights Day, we honor the dignity of all immigrants and the courageous efforts to protect our communities. We have faced a lot together, and in spite of it all, we have ensured safety, stability, and family unity for thousands of people. None of this would have been possible without your commitment to NIJC and your belief in the dignity and rights of all people.

This year, your support has helped NIJC:

  • Provide legal services to more than 10,100 people
  • Win legal relief in 97% of cases, helping 2,202 people receive legal relief this year and live safely with their loved ones
  • Secure release for more than 60 people from detention
  • Fight due process and other rights abuses in immigrant detention and challenge inhumane detention practices
  • Defend asylum rights by challenging a new federal rule restricting access to asylum
  • Challenge ICE's unlawful arrests through a motion to enforce a federal consent decree
  • Educate thousands of people about their legal rights during Know Your Rights presentations

I want to share this special message from Evan Gorelick, a senior attorney at NIJC working with non-detained immigrant children, who shares how your support this year has helped children and their families.

Your partnership powers NIJC’s work to defend dignity, due process, and justice for all immigrants. On this Human Rights Day, I invite you to reflect on all we’ve accomplished together, and the many lives that have been positively impacted because of your support and commitment to our work together.

With much gratitude,

Mary Meg McCarthy
Executive Director, National Immigrant Justice Center
