Hello fellow Our Villager,

As a mum of four and a retired teacher, I know how magical this time of year can be – the sparkle in children's eyes as they count down until the night Santa will visit.🎅

But as a volunteer with Our Village for more than ten years, I also know that Christmas can be an incredibly tough time for many families. It breaks my heart to think of children waking up on Christmas morning to no gifts under the tree – their parents facing illness, job loss, family violence or homelessness. Presents simply aren’t possible when you’re living through hardship or trauma.

That’s why I’m asking for your help today, please. 

Will you give today so we can make sure every child who needs Our Village has a gift waiting for them this Christmas morning?

Your generosity will help us send more than just the essentials like prams, cots, and clothing – we can send hope, joy and a reminder that children are loved and not forgotten.

This festive season, we’re hoping to include a beautifully wrapped book pack with every delivery we make to a child. It might seem like a simple gift, but books open entire worlds of imagination and possibility. 💫

They offer comfort, laughter, and may even spark a lifelong love of reading.

Will you help us put more of these precious gifts into children’s hands this Christmas? We have lots of pre-loved books ready and waiting in the warehouse, but we need your donation today to help cover the cost of getting the books to the children who are missing out. 

Giving kids access to books, opens doors for them and helps them thrive.  
 
Unwrapping their very own books on Christmas morning could be their first step into the world of literacy, numeracy and education - as well as all the adventure, knowledge and joy books bring.
 
It also shows them and their families that someone cares. I often think of the mum, dad or foster carer who might finally have a few quiet moments while their child turns the pages of a new story book. For those parents and carers, that small moment of calm can mean space to breathe, to think, to plan their next step.

This Christmas, my wish is that every child who needs Our Village feels that someone out there truly cares for them – because we do.
