At 2:17 a.m., our hotline rang. A quiet voice said, “I just need someone to talk to.”
For nearly an hour, a POV hotline counselor advocate listened — helping her breathe through fear, think clearly, and create a safety plan she felt empowered to follow. The advocate reminded her she wasn’t alone, that what she felt was valid, and that support was available whenever she needed it.
Before hanging up, she whispered:

Moments like this happen thousands of times a year. Our hotline operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, providing confidential, trauma-informed support to survivors and their families. At any hour, on any day, someone in crisis can reach a real person who listens, believes, and helps guide them toward safety.
