John, it's Brad reaching out.
A year ago, we were licking our wounds from Trump's re-election while ramping up our campaign for mayor of NYC.
Since then, I think it's safe to say a lot has happened.
The work to fight back against Trump ramped up more slowly than it did in 2016. But in recent weeks, that’s really changed. This weekend, I was at a “Hands Off NYC” event where over 1,000 people were trained to protect our neighbors. They’re having a big community weekend of events, if you want to join.

This month, I'm closing out my term as Comptroller by pushing our pension funds to fire BlackRock for failing to submit an adequate plan to address climate risk — one last act to push New York City into the future ( and… get one last hit-piece written about me from the NY Post ). And also by reporting on our 62% increase in investments with black, Latino, Asian, and women-owned investment firms. All while growing the pension funds to over $300 billion.
The mayoral campaign didn’t go quite as I planned. But I’m proud of our campaign, which helped send Andrew Cuomo back to Westchester, and helped send Zohran Mamdani to City Hall to win a city everyone can afford, and where everyone is welcome.
Through all of this, there's one thing that hasn't changed: my love for New York City.
This place is my home — the whole diverse, beautiful tapestry of it all. And I'm proud of the work we’ve done fighting for it together, over the past year, and the past four as Comptroller.
I'll have more big-picture thoughts about what's next shortly.
But for now, I'd love if you’d consider making a few one-week-late “giving Tuesday” contributions, to some of the organizations who I’ve worked closely with standing up for immigrant New Yorkers:

I'm proud to support these groups, and it would be meaningful if you did too.

Brad Lander
