...and one issue that stuck out was the influence that money has on Washington.
John --
Last week, I asked you to share your thoughts about the issues that matter most to you and what you’d like me to focus on should I be elected to Congress. I read through your responses, and one issue that stuck out was the influence that money has on Washington.
We all know that too many politicians in Washington are beholden to corporate interests. Look no further than President Trump’s cabinet which he packed with former corporate executives. An even closer example is my opponent Paul Cook who’s most recent fundraising report showed two-thirds of his support coming f
rom corporate PACs.
John, the key to solving the problems we face -- whether it’s health care access, ending the opioid crisis, or protecting our environment -- all stem from getting money out of our political system. That’s why I support a constitutional amendment to reverse the Citizens United Supreme Court ruling. And it’s why I made the decision to reject ALL corporate PAC money to my campaign and instead rely on individual support from folks like you.
I want our campaign to be proof that when enough of us come together behind our shared values, we can stand up and beat the deep-pocketed interests who have a stranglehold on Washington.
Your donations keep this campaign running. But more importantly, every contribution we receive sends a message that we have momentum behind our push to change the way things are done in Washington.
