Scoring Legislative Wins

Conservative women in the House notched important policy wins this past week on a wide variety of important issues.

President Trump signed Rep. Ann Wagner’s (MO-02) Taiwan Assurance Implementation Act into law, legislation designed to combat China's aggression and support an independent Taiwan.

Under the Biden administration, small businesses had to contend with a record-breaking $1.8 trillion in regulatory costs. The House passed Rep. Beth Van Duyne’s (TX-24) Small Business Regulatory Reduction Act to prohibit the Small Business Administration from taking regulatory action that raises compliance costs while also requiring the SBA to report annually on the regulatory costs other agencies impose on small businesses.

Rep. Monica De La Cruz’s (TX-15) HUD Transparency Act also cleared the chamber. Her legislation requires the Department of Housing and Urban Development's Inspector General to regularly report on efforts to root out waste, fraud, and abuse so housing programs actually serve the families they’re meant to help.

SCOTUS Rules on Trump-Backed TX Map

Last week, the U.S. Supreme Court cleared the way for Texas to use its newly-redrawn congressional map in 2026, siding with the state and putting a lower court ruling on hold. The decision allows a Trump-backed map — expected to favor conservatives — to remain in place while litigation continues.

WFW AF–backed candidates Jessica Hart Steinmann (TX‑08) and Alex Mealer (TX‑09) praised the ruling on social media, calling it a win for Texans and for accountability in Washington.

Spotlight On: Secretary Erin Houchin

The WFW entities are committed to supporting conservative women leading in Congress. This week, we're highlighting Congresswoman Erin Houchin of Indiana.  As Secretary of the House Republican Conference, she is the second-highest-ranking conservative woman in Congress.
