Miami (OH). Hey, way to go, Ohio. The Miami University administration and campus Jewish groups swiftly condemned

antisemitic messages that spread hate in two dorms; racist messages were also found in one of the incidents.

ADL commended the immediate response to ensure that hate has no place on campus. A Jewish freshman student,

cited anonymously in a news report, wasn’t intimidated: “It definitely feels very targeted towards me, and that's not cool. I'm not OK with anybody thinking that they have that kind of power over me.” As of now, no suspects have been identified during the police investigation.

Michigan. At the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business, a student-run group, Facts On the Ground, pulled off an almost unthinkable feat: an actual, on-campus

dialogue about Gaza’s future. Roughly 250 people showed up to hear Palestinian American activist Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib and Israeli journalist Nadav Eyal discuss a path forward — all while anti-Israel protesters gathered outside with signs and slogans attacking both speakers. In today’s campus climate, where shouting has often replaced thinking and listening, the event did something rare; it created a space for students to grapple with differing ideas, while making room for real debate.

San Jose State. A professor at San Jose State University may be the first tenured professor at a public school to

be canned over alleged violations of university policies centered on anti-Israel protests since 10/7. Sang Hea Kil had been a faculty advisor to the school’s Students for Justice in Palestine chapter in 2024. But according to a disciplinary letter the school sent last year, she crossed a line: “Your role as an advisor is not to act as the group’s leader and direct specific actions. Rather than encouraging violation of policies, you have the responsibility to ensure that the student organization understands university policies.” ADL commends the school for enforcing its policies in order to protect students and faculty.

California. With the Cal State University (CSU) system under investigation for campus antisemitism, some faculty unions are suing the CSU system, demanding that schools notify faculty prior to

complying with federal subpoenas seeking their identities and contact information. The unions argue that giving federal authorities their emails and cell numbers could lead to “harassment” or “retaliation,” with some faculty now questioning whether it’s safe to teach gender studies or publish theses. Cal State insists it’s cooperating with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) while trying to protect employee privacy, but the lawsuit has exposed a growing tension: when civil rights investigations meet campus politics, expect fireworks and a court date.

Finland. From Helsinki to Rovaniemi, Finnish students staged coordinated walkouts demanding their universities

cut ties with Israeli institutions, particularly those involved in EU-funded research projects. The protest, organized by Students for Palestine, calls academic cooperation “complicity” and frames institutional partnerships as ethical betrayals. University of Helsinki leadership responded by defending academic freedom, a concept the protestors say is irrelevant if Gaza’s education system is “under siege.” While some faculty unions are backing the boycott, universities haven’t budged… yet. No institutional action has been taken thus far.

Matzo Madness. Move over Wheaties... Manischewitz is on a mission to crown the best Jewish college athletes in America, and the winners won’t just get a trophy — they’ll be featured on actual boxes of matzo. Dubbed the

“L’Cheisman” award (A+ word play), the competition celebrates Jewish grit, talent, and mensch-like behavior on and off the field. Anyone can nominate an NCAA athlete, and come spring, two champs: one male, one female, will win $10,000, Hall of Fame honors and unleavened immortality. Entries are judged not just on athletic excellence, but also on their “mensch meter:” heart, pride, and Jewish community spirit. NIL deals — you just got way more delicious.

Porto Power. In a year when antisemitism has surged across European campuses, and too many schools are stuck in neutral, Fernando Pessoa University (UFP) in Porto has

decided to hit the gas. UFP has become the first university in Portugal to adopt the IHRA Working Definition of Antisemitism, a significant step for a campus with roughly 500 Jewish students — one of the highest proportions in Europe. The action shows real commitment from the university to tracking hate, protecting students and building a campus grounded in dignity and accountability. Jewish leaders across Europe are calling it a milestone — and a prompt for others to follow.
