I am back in Washington, D.C. for another week of legislative activity, committee hearings, and meetings. If you would like more information on what I am working on this week, be sure to follow me on social media. I do not serve in Congress to be a caretaker in the slow demise of America— I serve to fight and work to make it stronger. That’s what I am doing while believing our brightest days are yet to come. Yours in service, Click below to follow me on social media. Mann.House.Gov The Week Ahead This week, the House is back in session with a full slate of legislation focused on strengthening our national defense, improving energy reliability, cutting red tape, and standing up for American agriculture. Later this week, we will vote on the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2026. This bill delivers on President Trump’s promise of peace through strength by giving our enlisted servicemembers a 4% pay raise, rebuilding our defense industrial base, and restoring merit-based standards in our military. The NDAA strengthens our nuclear deterrence, invests in our space and drone capabilities, and secures our southern border by supporting the deployment of National Guard troops. We will also consider a series of natural resources and energy bills, including legislation to modernize the permitting process, improve pipeline reviews, and restore common sense to environmental policy. Additionally, the U.S. House of Representatives will pass a bill I cosponsor—the Studying NEPA’s Impact on Projects Act—which requires real transparency on the delays and costs caused by over-regulated environmental reviews, which often hold up infrastructure, energy, and agricultural development for years. When we roll back burdensome regulations, these developments are much more efficient, worthwhile investments for infrastructure builders and energy and agricultural producers. Meetings in the Office MOARC and Kansas City Industrial Council Milacron Prairie Star Health Tyson Beef Applauding President Trump's Bridge Payments to Farmers American agriculture has no stronger champion than President Trump. After four years of President Biden being asleep at the wheel with no trade deals, no positive news for farmers, and a Department of Agriculture hyper-focused on Green New Deal policies, our farm economy struggled with record-high input costs and warped global markets. President Trump is bridging the gap from four years of chaos into a new golden age for American agriculture. Thank you, President Trump, for standing with our nation's farmers and for giving them much-needed relief as they plan for the year ahead. Cutting Red Tape for Small Businesses Each year, American households spend about $16,000 in hidden regulatory fees. Small businesses, on average, spend nearly $40,000 per employee to comply with federal regulations. The Big First is home to more than 20,000 small businesses and 730,000 consumers who are impacted by these regulatory schemes. Last week, the House passed several pieces of legislation to bring transparency to regulatory compliance and end the financial burdens they put on small businesses and consumers. I am proud of all that House Republicans have done this year to help keep small and family-owned businesses growing. By working with the SBA to cut red tape and ensure any regulatory changes do not increase compliance costs for small businesses, we can help Main Streets and families across the Big First continue to thrive. Meeting with Kansas Farmers On Sunday, I had the opportunity to meet with some of the best and brightest of Kansas agriculture at Kansas Farm Bureau’s annual town hall meeting. It was great to hear directly from Kansas farmers, ranchers, and agricultural producers about the issues that are top of mind for them, such as year-round E15, the current state of agricultural trade, and how we address agriculture’s ongoing labor shortage. As the representative of the top agriculture-producing district in the country and a fifth-generation farm kid, I always value the chance to visit with producers, hear their concerns, and talk about the issues that matter most to rural Kansas. I’m grateful for Kansas Farm Bureau’s leadership and for the work they do every day to support the Kansas families who feed, fuel, and clothe the world. Aviation Funding Solvency Act Earlier this year, Washington Democrats chose to shut down the government for 43 days as they fought for a $1.5 trillion ultra-partisan policy wish list. During this time, Americans across the country saw the negative impacts when they tried to collect benefits like SNAP and WIC or faced major delays at our nation's airports. I cosponsor the Aviation Funding Solvency Act, which ensures our airspace system remains operational during future shutdowns. The bill allows the Aviation Insurance Revolving Fund to cover critical aviation services, keeping flights moving and air traffic controllers supported. This is a commonsense step to protect travelers, maintain safety, and keep our skies open, no matter what political games Washington might play. Honoring National Guard Victims The nation witnessed a heartbreaking and senseless act of violence when two members of our National Guard from West Virginia—Specialist Sarah Beckstrom and Staff Sergeant Andrew Wolfe—were shot outside the White House in our nation's capital. Specialist Beckstrom gave her life in service to our country. She wore our nation’s uniform with honor, stood ready to defend her neighbors, and lived out the highest ideals of duty and sacrifice. We grieve her loss deeply, and we ask God to bring comfort and peace to her family, her loved ones, and the entire National Guard community. We also pray for the full and swift recovery of Staff Sergeant Wolfe. He remains in critical condition, and Americans across Kansas and the country continue to cover him in prayer. We ask for God’s healing hand on him, for strength for his family, and for protection over every man and woman who serves. Audrey and I continue to pray for these two American heroes and their families. VA Zero Suicide Demonstration Project Act Our nation's veterans have dedicated their lives to fighting for our freedoms and strong values, but freedom isn't free. Their hard work can come with personal hardships that most ordinary citizens will never understand. I cosponsor the VA Zero Suicide Demonstration Project Act, which works with VA medical systems to establish the Zero Suicide Initiative pilot program. By improving safety and support for veterans, we can ensure our nation's heroes are taken care of every step of the way.
