Donating to us is one of the many ways in which you can advocate for more housing, more affordable housing, fewer trips by car, frequent and reliable public transit, and fairer land-use practices. But doing so also means that you're advocating for Greater Greater Washington—for me and my colleagues to do our jobs. Your vote of confidence in our worthiness is extraordinarily meaningful, because stable, well-run organizations that produce high-quality work, which I am proud of us for doing every day, legitimize the things that we're pushing for.
In a given week, I watch public hearings, write testimony to submit to those public hearings, send emails, respond to emails, write my part of Do Something (of course!), talk to a bunch of people (sometimes, some of you!), read as much as I can, and watch the hearings I missed in the last week. If I'm lucky, I get to go into deep-work mode and spend time better understanding the implications of documents like the zoning code and the Comprehensive Plan to understand what needs to change so that we can build more housing. None of that happens without your backing—especially the "501(c)4 parts" of my job, like our endorsements processes, that I think are the most rewarding.
Thank you for supporting Greater Greater Washington. Thank you for supporting me. By showing up for us, you keep us able to show up for you.
