Dear John, At Ms. Foundation for Women, we know from over 50 years of experience: funding and resourcing multi-issue movement-building work is a winning strategy. That’s why many of our grantee partners work at the intersection of critical movements and issues. For instance, The Brave House, a Girls of Color Initiative grantee partner, supports young immigrant and refugee women and gender-expansive youth, with a focus on survivors of gender-based violence. They offer a variety of programs, from free legal aid to mental health support to school and childcare assistance, hoping to provide a safe haven of radical hospitality and acceptance to their members. |

In the words of Joy Dumas, Mental Health Advocate at The Brave House, “I’ve had the privilege of supporting hundreds of brilliant young people from all over the world, arriving at a pivotal transition point in their lives and bursting with ideas and potential. What they need is opportunity, community, and support through transitions, which they are so often excluded from due to their race and immigration status.” We’re so proud to support grantee partners like The Brave House, who are at the forefront of organizing and creating solutions that improve people’s lives and bring us closer to achieving a true democracy. |
