Port Talbot Christmas Parade

The rain couldn’t dampen the festive spirit in Port Talbot.

There was a incredible atmosphere for the Viva Port Talbot Christmas Parade – amazing to see the streets packed and everyone in such great spirits.

Forge Road was busy with fantastic stalls, delicious food, and plenty of opportunities for some festive shopping.

A huge thank you to Viva Port Talbot for organising another fantastic event and to Aberafan Shopping Centre for their support. Thanks also to Aberavon Rugby Club for all their hard work on the Christmas tree and lights. A great way to kick off of the festive season in Port Talbot.

War Memorial Service

It was an honour to attend the War Memorial Service in Pontrhydyfen.

My heartfelt thanks to the Burton Bont Festival Group for their remarkable work restoring the wooden memorial and researching the stories of the men from Tonmawr, Bryn, and Pontrhydyfen who served in the First and Second World Wars. Their dedication ensures that our communities continue to remember and reflect on the sacrifices made.

It was great to see such attention to detail paid to recreating the service in the way that the original service for the memorial would have been carried out.

I’m also grateful to Suesational Photography for kindly allowing the use of her images from the day.

We will always remember those who gave their tomorrow for our today.

Kenfig Hill Superstore

It was great to visit Kenfig Hill Superstore, a fantastic local business that has been serving the community for nearly 10 years.

Run by Ram and his wife, along with a dedicated team of local staff, they’ve shown real resilience, reopening just three months after a fire. It’s inspiring to see how quickly they got back on their feet to continue supporting the community.

William's Supplies

Great to drop into Williams Supplies in Kenfig Hill recently, a fantastic new local business that’s been open for almost a month. It was brilliant to meet Paul, the owner, who has created a friendly, well-stocked hub for all things DIY.

Whether you’re tackling a small home project or something more ambitious, Paul offers everything you might need, and can also source a wide range of products and supplies.

Caerau Coffee Morning

Delighted to have held a community coffee morning in Caerau! It was great to catch up with so many residents, hear your thoughts, and pick up plenty of casework to keep us busy.

A huge thank you to Noddfa for hosting, and to Huw Irranca-Davies, Cllr Paul Davies, and our local PCSOs for joining us. Most importantly, thank you to everyone who came along for a chat.

Community spirit is alive and well in Caerau!

ProMaterial

I was proud to visit ProMaterial Ltd at the Bay Technology Centre in Baglan Energy Park; a really exciting cleantech company making waves here in Port Talbot. Their mission to combine AI-driven automation with sustainable materials for high-precision industrial use shows exactly how innovation and green manufacturing can go hand in hand.

What’s even more inspiring is that ProMaterial is growing thanks to funding from the Tata Steel / Port Talbot Transition Board Growth Fund. This is exactly the kind of investment our community needs: supporting local businesses as they build new, clean-tech jobs and contribute to a low-carbon future.

Richard Burton Centenary Event

I was at the Orangery in Margam Country Park to mark 100 years since the birth of the legendary Richard Burton. The Richard Burton centenary gala was brilliant.

Wonderful performances by up and coming actors, musicians and Michael Sheen. A fitting tribute to the great man!

It was a great evening fit for the fantastic actor!

Advice Surgeries

I offered an advice surgery in Port Talbot this month which was fully booked and I will be holding another fully booked surgery in Cornelly this week.

I am always pleased to meet with so many residents to hear what their local and national concerns are and help them with a wide range of issues, from help with local crime to hearing their thoughts on policy issues.
