Hi there, %%FIRSTNAME(friend)%%, it’s Gov. Laura Kelly reaching out for the final time as outgoing DGA Chair.

It’s been an honor serving as Chair over these past two years. Together, we made it through stronger than ever – culminating in two historic victories in Virginia and New Jersey last month.

If you’re short on time, I have just one last request for you:

When I was elected Chair of the DGA, I knew it wouldn’t be easy – but I knew it’d be worth it.

In 2024, we faced some challenges, battling all the noise of national politics. But we had a mission: defend three governorships in North Carolina, Delaware, and Washington – and in a tough election year, we did it, electing Govs. Josh Stein, Matt Meyer, and Bob Ferguson.

And this year, all eyes were on Virginia and New Jersey – the first major elections of Trump’s second term. These races tested how Americans felt about this administration’s extreme, reckless policies so far, and voters made it overwhelmingly clear: they trust Dem govs to deliver for them.

These victories were historic, Team. In Virginia, we not only flipped the governorship from red to blue, but also elected Abigail Spanberger to be the first woman governor in the commonwealth’s history. And in New Jersey, Mikie Sherrill’s victory was the first time in 60 years that Democrats have won three consecutive races for governor in the Garden State.

We’ve proved time and time again that Democrats can overcome precedent and win in deeply competitive races when we stay laser-focused on our positive vision to address the biggest issues impacting families in their daily lives.

As former Chair, I know firsthand that Dem govs get it done – for all Americans – fighting on the frontlines to lower costs, expand health care, invest in education, and protect reproductive rights every single
day. Dem govs show up for their states, and with 36 races on the ballot next year, it’s more important than ever that you show up for them, %%FIRSTNAME(blank)%%. So I’m asking for the final time as your DGA Chair:

After making history in her decisive second term victory in a state Trump won by over 16 points in 2024, Gov. Kelly is building on her accomplishments and charting a bold agenda. Kelly brings together both parties to get things done. She has brought jobs, businesses, opportunities, and record economic success to Kansas. During Kelly's start as DGA Chair in 2024, she helped keep North Carolina blue and elect Josh Stein. And this year, she helped elect Abigail Spanberger and Mikie Sherrill – flipping Virginia and keeping New Jersey blue – in two historic victories.

Although her time as Chair is coming to a close, she’s still ready to elect more Democratic candidates for governor in 2026.
