Today, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments in the Trump v. Slaughter case, which could undermine the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) by overturning 90 years of legal precedent, giving Trump even more power in his march toward oligarchy for him and his billionaire friends.
For generations, independent federal agencies like the FTC have proven essential to the long-term stability of our country and markets. They benefit workers, consumers, and businesses alike, and they’ve always been protected from presidential interference. That is, until now.
By firing two FTC members last spring, Donald Trump is challenging the separation of powers and insisting in this court case that he should have full authority over federal agencies.
