Hi John,
2025 made one thing crystal clear: When we elevate leaders who understand the frustration in their communities — and respond with real solutions, not political theater — voters respond. EMILYs List candidates across the country are proving that honest, practical leadership is powerful. And in California, they’re opening the door to three consequential red-to-blue opportunities.
Because while Californians are fighting for basic stability — access to health care, functioning local hospitals, representatives who show up — too many of their elected officials have lost sight of the people they’re supposed to serve.
John, will you chip in today to help power our work in California?
Here’s what we’re up against:
CA-01: Audrey Denney (D) vs. Rep. Doug LaMalfa (R)
A rural hospital in LaMalfa’s district shut its doors, cutting off emergency care, cancer treatment, and maternity services. Instead of fighting for his community, LaMalfa cast votes that contributed to the crisis. Audrey Denney is running because families in Northern California deserve a representative who understands what this loss means — and who will step up when it counts.
CA-22: Dr. Jasmeet Bains (D) vs. David Valadao (R)
Over 61,000 residents in Valadao’s own district are at risk of losing health coverage because of his votes. Rather than protecting his constituents, Valadao voted for the legislation that puts their care in jeopardy. Dr. Jasmeet Bains has spent her career making sure families get access to the care they need. She knows what’s at stake.
CA-48: Marni von Wilpert (D) vs. Darrell Issa (R)
Darrell Issa is so disconnected from his district that he’s reportedly considering running in Texas instead. He’s not focused on San Diego — he’s focused on himself. Marni von Wilpert is fighting to give her community a representative who is present, accountable, and committed to the people she serves.
These races are early, strategic opportunities to build a real federal check on the Trump administration by flipping the House in 2026. And EMILYs List women will be at the center of that effort.
