As a young attorney, I took on a longshot pro bono case: fighting for the widow and children of Victor Jara, the Chilean folk singer who was tortured and executed for daring to stand up against the far-right fascist Pinochet dictatorship. 

The dictatorship tried to silence Jara’s voice. 

But justice never forgets. Decades later, I tracked his killer down to the pizzeria he was running in Orlando and made him face a trial in a U.S. courtroom. It was a fight against impunity, against fear, against forgetting.

And we won – paving the way for him to be extradited back to Chile to face justice.

Unfortunately, America under Trump is kowtowing to the same types of Authoritarians who murdered Jara. 

We are cozying up to Israel’s Netanyahu, Russia’s Putin, El-Savador’s Bukele, and Mohammed Bin-Salman of Saudi Arabia. 

Things have gotten so bad that many experts consider the most recent national security strategy released by the White House to be “Kremlin backed.” The Kremlin even said that this strategy aligns with its worldview. And just this past week, Special Envoy Witkoff was caught coaching Putin’s aides on how to best win over Trump.

In Congress I will fight to ensure that America makes a course correction to end the drift toward authoritarianism at home as well as the authoritarianism we are supporting abroad. 

It’s for this reason that MAGA is preparing to absolutely pummel our campaign to ensure New Hampshire’s 1st doesn’t send me to Congress where I will fight them tooth and nail.
