Campaign Strategy Memo
FOR: Team Warner Supporters
Senator Warner has made his objective clear: this campaign isn’t just about him or even this Senate seat. We’ve got to build momentum in every corner of the Commonwealth, elect strong Democrats across Virginia, and flip as many Republican-held seats as possible.
When Warner was first elected to the Senate in 2008, VA Democrats also flipped 3 House seats. In 2020 – his last election – Democrats held all 3 frontline seats for Democrats, in a year that was particularly difficult for House Democrats.
This year – we could flip as many as four seats for Democrats.
Our message:
- Affordability: Lowering prices on housing, health care, groceries, and utilities.
- AI: Preparing Virginia’s economy for both the job disruption and opportunities this new technology will bring.
- Accountability: Standing up to Trump when his actions make Virginians less safe, raise costs, or infringe on our rights.
Reaching Voters:
Organizing everywhere. And I’m not just talking about all regions of Virginia (although that’s important too).
In a fractured media environment where many voters get their news from social media instead of traditional news outlets,
building a strong digital infrastructure where our message meets voters where they are is fundamental to our strategy.
What’s Next:
After launching Warner’s reelection campaign on Tuesday – we’re in full election mode at Warner HQ. That means I am watching our budget like a hawk.
The earlier donations come in, the sooner we’re able to put them to use.
