Friend, for generations, Hazle
Creek in Weatherly, Pennsylvania, was considered
a lifeless stream. Locals said nothing could survive
there. Why? Coal mining left
it and other Carbon County waters stained
with acid and metals.
That's why, when longtime fisherman Ray
Youngblood saw a flash of silver and red dart beneath the
surface, he froze. It was a wild trout-something he never
thought he'd see in Hazle Creek.
"It was totally astounding," Ray says.
