NOTICE OF RULEMAKING
Notice is hereby given that the Superintendent of Insurance will hold a hearing concerning proposed amendments to Rule Chapter 440 – Maine Workers’ Compensation Residual Mechanism on January 5, 2026, 10:00 am, at the Department of Professional and Financial Regulation, Androscoggin Room, 76 Northern Avenue, Gardiner, ME 04345.
The purpose of this rule amendment is to provide a mechanism for winding down the workers’ compensation residual pool. A copy of the proposed amendments is at https://www.maine.gov/pfr/insurance/legal/rules.
The amendments are proposed in accordance with 24-A M.R.S. §§ 212 and 2386(5), and P.L. 1995, ch. 289, §19(2). Primary sources of information relied upon by the Bureau of Insurance in developing the proposed amendments include Bureau staff’s professional judgment.
