Email from Children's Law Center Children’s Law Center is standing for families like Nadine’s   When Every Problem Reaches a Crisis Point Last week, I got an urgent call from Nadine.* Her six-year-old daughter has been in and out of the ER – and I’ve been advocating with Nadine to get her landlord to clean up the mold causing these life-threatening asthma attacks.   But this time, Nadine called when her water was about to be shut off because the landlord hadn’t paid the bill. A few weeks before that, she called because she worried she wouldn’t be able to put food on the table for her family, given all the chaos over SNAP benefits.   As an attorney with Children’s Law Center’s Healthy Together program, I work with pediatricians at Children’s National to address health issues that can’t be solved by medicine alone. Even in normal times, we see so many barriers to children’s health and stability. But these are not normal times. This month, our entire team has gotten many urgent calls from parents who are reeling from local and federal budget cuts, furloughs and job losses on top of the everyday crises faced by families living in poverty.
