MONDAY E'NEWS   MCRGO Annual Meeting 2025 Summary Held on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 11 AM EST at Coral Gables, East Lansing REPORTS September's meeting minutes were approved. There were 10,803 members as of 12.1.25, a 3.9% increase from September 2025. 51.3% of current members are CPL students. 10.4% are life members. MCRGO's Black Friday/Cyber Monday special to expired members resulted in 63 renewals through the new coupon code feature on the website Treasurer Susan McCray-King provided the annual financial report. Attorney Steve Dulan provided a legal update. The Executive Director provided the annual training report. MCRGO's 318 instructors certified 5,559 students during 1,150 classes over the past year. MCRGO paid for two emergency CPLs in 2025. MCRGO awarded five instructor scholarships to instructor candidates under 30 years old in 2025. MCRGO co-hosted a legislative CPL class with the NRA at Rose Lake this past summer. OFFICER ELECTIONS Chuck Perricone was re-elected as MCRGO President, Chair, and Operations Committee Chair. Sheriff Rich Martin was re-elected as MCRGO First Vice Chair and Education Committee Chair. Steve Dulan was re-elected as MCRGO Second Vice Chair. Susan McCray-King was re-elected as MCRGO Secretary and Treasurer. OLD BUSINESS The MCRGO 2025 election results were formally presented. New terms began. The executive director presented the proposed event schedule for 2026. An update was provided on the revisions to the MCRGO CPL course PowerPoint. MCRGO received a donation of $5,000 from the NRA to produce an updated legal video for the CPL course. MCRGO's board voted to appropriate an additional $7,700 toward its professional production. The executive director provided an update on the email to pandemic-era CPL holders. Members requested that the update be repeated quarterly through 2026 and 2027. NEW BUSINESS Following member discussion, the board voted to approve opt-in, automatic, online membership renewal. The board appropriated up to $12,000 for a full revision of MCRGO's website to be performed by Fuse, MCRGO's current website developer. MCRGO-PAC for Election 2026 will be appointed at the March 2026 board meeting. A solicitation for PAC volunteers will be sent by a late-winter Monday E'News. NEW LEGISLATION  Members discussed the governor's Gun Violence Task Force Report and the current political situation in the Michigan Legislature. COMPETITIVE SHOOTING PROGRAM The NRA Competitive Shooting Program provides national leadership and standardized rules for shooting sports while coordinating a system of local, state, regional, and national competitions. The NRA’s Competitive Shooting Division sets rules, sanctions matches, trains officials, and maintains competitor classifications and records, supported by discipline-specific committees. As the official NRA State Association for Michigan, MCRGO is responsible for overseeing state championships, ensuring matches follow NRA standards, promoting participation in competitive shooting in Michigan, and selecting state teams to represent Michigan in NRA National Championships. MCRGO members established a Competitive Shooting Subcommittee to fulfill these responsibilities. MCRGO endeavors to onboard in this new role with the Michigan Rifle and Pistol Association, the recent past NRA State Association for Michigan. MARKETING SUBCOMMITTEE An MCRGO Marketing Subcommittee has been created by MCRGO members. The subcommittee will align marketing with MCRGO’s mission by defining core messaging, tone, and target audiences. The subcommittee will strengthen branding and digital presence. The subcommittee will develop a content strategy to plan regular content through legislative updates, public safety education, training resources, and event promotion. The subcommittee will grow and engage membership with targeted messaging, recruitment channels, and incentives. The subcommittee will expand media relations, partnerships, and community outreach to increase visibility and credibility. The subcommittee will establish workflows, metrics, and reporting tools to track marketing effectiveness and guide ongoing improvement. Subcommittee recruitment and initial meetings will occur in winter 2026.
