Friend, Donald Trump wants Santa to bring him and his tech buddies protection so they can’t be bothered while playing with their new AI toys. The executive order that’s on Trump’s wish list this year would allow big tech companies to continue testing potentially dangerous AI on people for enormous profits. Trump also wants to task Attorney General Pam Bondi with establishing an AI Litigation Task Force to challenge and undermine state AI laws. According to Trump, the biggest threats to national security aren’t China or Russia… it’s us, the state legislatures! The executive order draft may be put on hold for now, but this shows just how far Trump is willing to go and his complete disregard for regulations in place to protect us. As for me, well, I prefer to pass AI legislation that protects us. That’s why I sponsored the first-in-the-nation bill to regulate artificial intelligence, ensuring ethical and responsible use of AI technologies and working to make this policy work better. AI is constantly evolving, and that’s why we need to ensure protections are put in place to protect us. We shouldn’t punish state legislatures for doing their job. In fact, we need MORE elected officials who understand the importance of AI regulations and to stand up to the giant profiteering corporations.
