For months, I have been sounding the alarm about America’s rapid descent from democracy to MAGA authoritarianism.

But as Trump’s approval ratings have fallen to an all-time second-term low, he’s significantly escalated his assault on democracy and the rule of law.

In recent weeks, the Trump regime has:

Launched a ferociously racist new immigration crackdown targeting green card holders from 19 mostly African and Middle Eastern countries, paused all asylum applications, and openly called for “reverse migration,” a term used by white supremacists to describe the mass ethnic cleansing of all non-white immigrants.
Murdered 83 people in 21 separate air strikes in the Caribbean and Pacific, including a ghastly “double-tap” strike — and flagrant war crime — in which a second attack was ordered to kill two defenseless, shipwrecked survivors.
Pardoned right-wing former Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández, who was convicted of bringing hundreds of tons of cocaine into the U.S. — signaling once again that any Trump ally who commits crimes on his behalf will be protected.

None of this surprises me, except perhaps the speed in which the regime is moving and the utter failure of the corporate media and other core democratic institutions to stop him.

But I’ll be honest, I’m terrified.

Everything we’re seeing from the Trump regime is straight out of the same authoritarian playbook used by Vladimir Putin and Viktor Orbán — and yet most mainstream news outlets continue to treat all of this like business as usual.
