On this webinar, we'll provide a comprehensive examination of the escalating dangers created by HR1, the current enforcement climate, and the federal government’s renewed efforts to restrict immigrant access to essential services.
We will break down how HR1 dramatically reshapes the landscape for immigrant families: from the immediate termination of SNAP and ACA tax credits eligibility to the planned cuts to Medicaid and ACA coverage that will push millions into medical and financial crisis. Presenters will explore how these provisions interact with ramped-up enforcement, creating a climate where families must choose between seeking care, feeding their children, or risking deportation.
We’ll examine the on-the-ground impacts of intensified surveillance, policing, detention, and deportation. Communities across the country are reporting increased home raids, workplace enforcement, and street-level stops that are driving people into hiding. Mental-health providers, educators, and service agencies are documenting a surge in anxiety, depression, and trauma among both adults and children—conditions made worse by the constant threat of family separation.
We will address the troubling rise of authoritarian “public safety” rhetoric that falsely blames immigrants for social problems while funneling billions toward militarized enforcement. This narrative is silencing civic institutions, intimidating service providers, and eroding the ability of local organizations to speak openly in defense of their communities.
Join us this Monday, December 8 at 4:00 PM ET for an urgent webinar: Under Siege—When Policy, Policing, and Public Charge Become Tools to Harm Immigrant Communities.
Speakers will also expose the devastating conditions inside detention centers, where medical neglect, extreme temperatures, lack of prenatal care, and prolonged confinement have become routine. This includes the detention of pregnant people, LGBTQ+ individuals, asylum seekers with medical needs, and others who face heightened risks in custody.
Finally, we will discuss the newly announced public charge rule—the latest attempt to terrorize immigrant families and push them away from food, health care, and stability.
