John,

The Trump administration has forced out 7,000 Social Security employees this year, sending wait times spiking and slowing down claims processes.

Now, instead of fixing what they broke, the Trump administration could derail Social Security into his mass deportation machine, forcing staff to spend time feeding our personal data into a Homeland Security database instead of serving people on Social Security.

There is a public comment period right now, and the deadline is almost here. Can you use our simple form to tell the Social Security Administration: Don’t let Social Security data power ICE’s deportation machine!

None of this is simple. Earlier this year, the Trump administration fed the names of roughly 6,000 immigrants into the Social Security ‘death master file.’ This process was riddled with mismatches and errors, resulting in American-born citizens being wrongly declared dead, resulting not only in an interruption of their benefits, but their health insurance, bank accounts, credit cards, and more.

To accomplish this in a way that doesn’t result in legitimate claimants losing benefits would take staff away from their core services. It would make wait times even longer, and slow down claims processes even further.

The Trump administration has already let Elon Musk take our private Social Security data and put it on an insecure server―a hacker’s dream. We must speak out and prevent the further dilution of our Social Security data!

Thank you,

Michael Phelan
