Good morning, my friend!
I have one word to describe this morning: Brrrrrr.... (Which actually is a sound, not a word, but you know what I mean.) I woke up to it being a chilly 61 degrees in the apartment and just barely, barely above freezing outside. We only get about 6 weeks of winter here, and it's started off with a bang.
This is the kind of weather that calls for crochet projects, hot beverages, and cozy blankets on my lap. We got our Christmas tree up last week, and while it's mostly decorated, we still have another basket of ornaments to hang. I love a Christmas tree that is completely over the top, positively dripping with ornaments.
My family and I decided to forgo gifts and travel this year - money is tight for all of us. We'll have a tasty feast and a long video call instead, and start the new year with less stress than if we were to splurge.
We've been stocking up as we are able on small purchases: canned goods, grains, etc. My pantry isn't as "clean" (free from preservatives and additives) as it once was, but all anyone can do is move forward the best way possible. I have always thought that if it's a choice between more food or the best food, one should always go with more when stocking a pantry. If things are terrible and groceries aren't available, I don't think I'm going to bemoan my Knorr sidekicks and Bush baked beans - I'll just be happy to have them.
I've been hard at work polishing up Haven Hill and getting it ready for publication. I hope to be offering advance digital copies as early as next weekend! Be on the lookout!
I hope that you have a wonderful week ahead.
Stay safe.
Be happy.
Love,
Daisy
