Joint Commission on Health Care Meeting

On December 3rd, the Joint Commission on Health Care ( "JCHC") held its final meeting of 2025 and took meaningful steps—not just listening, but advancing legislative solutions—to address health care challenges in Virginia.
Transportation Barriers: Recognizing how lack of transportation limits health care access, especially in rural communities, the commission is pursuing legislation to strengthen oversight and improve the reliability of the Non-Emergency Medical Transportation ( "NEMT" ) program. This includes more funding for innovative options like microtransit, and new support for local transit providers to ensure people can actually get to their appointments.
Community Pharmacy Closures: With nearly 14% of Virginians now facing limited or no local pharmacy access, particularly in rural areas, the commission is taking action. Legislative proposals include setting a minimum Medicaid reimbursement rate to help pharmacies stay open, and providing targeted financial support to those most at risk of closure, so essential medications and services remain available.
Medicaid Oversight: To address fragmented oversight and improve effectiveness in the Medicaid program, the commission discussed legislative changes to create a new body dedicated to oversight, increase staff where needed, and clarify the roles of existing committees. These steps aim to boost accountability and better manage this vital program.
These targeted actions reflect the commitment to making real improvements for Virginians health care outcomes and responsible use of resources, with further legislative updates expected as plans for 2026 develop. Women's Democratic Club Event

It was an honor to attend this empowering Women’s Democratic event alongside Women’s National Democratic Club Board Director Laura Whitaker and communications strategist John Neffinger. Connecting with thoughtful leaders and passionate advocates reminded me of the collective strength we share in advancing our common goals.

I've long supported Senator Mark Warner because he consistently delivers for Virginians. Through my work with small business owners, I’ve seen how committed he is - especially to the Iranian American and other diaspora. I look forward to continuing our shared work for all Virginians.

How My Office Can Help
Navigating state agencies can be confusing and difficult at times. As the delegate for House District 27, I can help you communicate with state agencies such as the Virginia Employment Commission, Departments of Taxation, Social Services, Transportation and more! I can also submit inquiries with those agencies on your behalf. There are limits to what I can do, however. For example, I am unable to expedite cases or force state agencies to favor your inquiry, provide legal advice or recommend a specific attorney, intervene with judicial issues, overturn decisions, or be involved with matters between private businesses.
Whether you require my office’s assistance, want to bring an issue to my attention or invite me to a community event, please reach out here: [link removed] [[link removed]]
Alongside constituent services, I can submit drafts for commending and memorial resolutions. If you know of a person or organization in the district that deserves special recognition, please submit a request here: resolution request form. [[link removed]]
If you are happy with the work I am doing, please consider donating to my campaign for re-election using the button below.
