This morning, RFK Jr.’s panel of conspiracy theorists at the CDC voted to stop recommending that newborns receive the Hepatitis B vaccine within 24 hours of their birth.
As a doctor, I am disgusted by the panel’s decision. Hepatitis B infections among children have fallen 99% since the CDC began recommending a birth dose of the vaccine. Decades of research prove that it is safe, effective, and saves lives.
Trump and his allies have already slashed vaccine research funding, undermined public health, and amplified dangerous misinformation about lifesaving medicine. Now, decisions that should be grounded in science are being influenced by conspiracies. They are putting our children at risk.
