Trump sent unmarked federal law enforcement officers to Portland, Oregon to arrest individuals without reading their Miranda rights and with no explanation why they’re being detained.

Trump has crossed a line again, John.

Trump sent unmarked federal law enforcement officers to Portland, Oregon to arrest individuals without reading their Miranda rights and with no explanation why they’re being detained.

It’s a shameless abuse of power. Trump has made it clear he will stop at nothing in his war against protestors and the Black Lives Matter movement.

We need Congress to respond to this unconstitutional and illegal attack with the only appropriate response: hold Trump accountable. We can’t wait, please sign our petition demanding that Congress take action.

Congress must respond »

In this moment of crisis, Trump is igniting the flames of violence and unrest and using the repressive tactics of his authoritarian friends.

He’s given the command to attack our communities with military-grade weapons, used the Insurrection Act of 1807 to direct the use of force against civilians, and now he’s allowing unmarked police officers to illegally arrest anyone on the streets. One attorney describes it as, “Stop and frisk meets Guantanamo Bay...it sounds more like abduction. It sounds like they’re kidnapping people off the streets.”

It’s a direct threat against our right to protest, our constitution, and our democracy that was built from peaceful resistance and freedom of assembly.

Bold action from Congress is the only appropriate response to this situation, but Congress will only act if we demand it.

That’s why we’re asking you to make it clear that you demand accountability. Will you add your name to urge Congress to hold the White House accountable for this unconstitutional attack against protestors?

In solidarity,
