“They killed my husband in front of me. He could only afford to pay the ransom for me and our children. Then they killed him.”
These are the words that Asmaa , a mother in Sudan, shared with us.

Her family escaped the recent brutal massacre in El Fasher, Sudan and are living in Tawila, a town now overwhelmed with hundreds of thousands of women, girls, and families seeking a safe place to rest their heads.
For women and girls like Asmaa, their journey to Tawila and Al Dabba was not a passage to safety, but a perilous ordeal marked by extortion, rape, and death.
“They asked if I was a virgin. When I said yes, they took me to their office and raped me before allowing me to continue walking,” shared Salam , another woman in Tawila.
Sudan is the world’s largest humanitarian emergency and millions of women and girls are surviving violence, displacement, and hunger every single day — but right now, we can help.
You have the power to provide lifesaving sexual and reproductive healthcare to women and girls in Sudan and humanitarian emergencies around the world. Please donate now — every second counts in an emergency.
In Sudan's moment of need, will you make a gift for women and girls to provide UNFPA Dignity Kits today? [[link removed]?]

When crisis strikes, women and girls are among the most vulnerable.
Famine has been declared in Sudan and more than 20 million people are hungry, but it’s women and girls who eat last and least.
In overcrowded camps, no one has enough clean water to drink and bathe, but it’s women and girls who must manage their periods without clean water or privacy.
Everyone in Sudan is surviving armed conflict, but it’s women and girls who overwhelmingly face sexual violence and exploitation.
Thanks to gifts from supporters like you, we are there. Your support goes toward distributing UNFPA Dignity Kits to women and girls in displacement camps, so they can manage their periods and care for themselves. With donor support, we have deployed midwives and mobile clinics to reach pregnant women and mothers fleeing violence and living far away from home. And, we are providing survivors of rape and sexual violence with the care they need to recover and begin rebuilding their lives.
But we urgently need to scale up our support to meet the needs of the 30 million people in Sudan and millions of women and girls surviving the harsh winter months in Gaza, Ukraine, and Afghanistan.
