Today is a dark day for children’s health and medicine in this country.
The Centers for Disease Control made sweeping changes to the vaccine schedule and removed its recommendation that all babies receive a hepatitis B shot despite fierce objections from medical groups. The dangerous virus has been nearly eradicated, and this would be a huge setback for public health.
As a mom, I’m terrified for newborns and their mothers. I remember when I had my kids, it was overwhelming, and I was so glad that I had doctors and a CDC I could trust. As a journalist, I know how necessary it is that we trust experts and facts. I trust science, research and facts. I will always fight based on these basic beliefs in Congress.
I think it’s more than obvious that we need more advocates in Washington to stand up for our children and defend their health and well-being. That’s why I’m asking you today to contribute to my campaign.
